Former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has been appointed as a senior adviser by two large US technology companies. He took on roles with both Microsoft, a $3.9tn technology company, and Anthropic, a generative AI startup valued at $180bn. The appointments were approved by the Westminster watchdog, Acoba, despite concerns they might offer unfair access to the UK government. Sunak stated his advice will focus on macro-economic and geopolitical trends and will not involve lobbying or UK policy. He confirmed he will donate his entire salary from both roles to his charity, The Richmond Project.
