Perplexity has launched Comet Plus, a $5 subscription (also included with Pro and Max tiers). It gives users—and their AI assistants—direct access to premium journalism and trusted reporting.
Under this model, publishers get paid in three ways tied to how their content is used in AI and by readers. The goal is to shift away from traffic-driven models toward quality and sustainability.
For its launch, Comet Plus is partnering with major publishers like CNN, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, Condé Nast (and its titles), Fortune, Le Monde, and Le Figaro.
The broader vision: build an internet where curiosity is rewarded, quality journalism prospers, and users get better, more factual answers.
