Stripe and OpenAI launched the Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP), an open-source standard that makes commerce programmable between buyers, AI agents, and businesses. With ACP, a buyer can shop via an AI agent (e.g. ChatGPT), and the agent can handle checkout flows without exposing customer credentials. Merchants remain in control: they choose which products to sell, how payments are processed, and how orders are fulfilled.  ACP supports diverse commerce types (digital, physical, subscriptions) and is built to integrate with existing backends and payment systems.
